Meet Your Groomers

Three groomers, one rule: your dog's comfort sets the pace. Ask for whoever your pup clicks with — we keep notes.

Maren Kowalski

Owner & Lead Groomer

Maren opened The Tidy Hound seven years ago with one table and a strong opinion about kindness. She books one dog at a time, on purpose, and she has never met a doodle coat she couldn't talk down.

  • Doodles & curly coats
  • Nervous first-timers

Jess Tran

Groomer

Jess is our detail person — crisp terrier hand-stripping, tidy spaniel feathering, and faces so neat they look drawn on. If your dog has a breed standard, Jess has memorized it.

  • Terriers & spaniels
  • Breed-standard trims

Dominic Reyes

Groomer & Bath Lead

Dominic is six feet of calm and our big-dog specialist. Great Pyrenees, shepherds, that lab who thinks the tub is lava — he takes his time, and the giants leave leaning on him.

  • Big breeds
  • De-shedding treatments

What the Pet Parents Say

Murphy came home looking like a stuffed animal and acting like he'd had the best day of his life. Maren talked me through the matting honestly instead of just shaving him down. We're on the every-six-weeks plan now.

Good Questions

Things Pet Parents Ask Us

How long does a groom take?

Plan on 2–3 hours for a full groom, a little longer for XL pups and thick doubles coats. We groom one dog at a time rather than crating dogs all day, so we'll give you a realistic pickup window when you drop off — and we'll text you the moment your pup is fluffed and ready.

Do you require vaccinations?

We ask that every dog be current on rabies — it keeps your pup, the other dogs on the schedule, and our groomers safe, and it means everyone can relax and enjoy their spa day. Bring your vet's record to the first visit and we'll keep it on file.

What happens if my dog's coat is matted?

No judgment — coats happen, especially on doodles and busy families. We never force a painful brush-out. If matting is light we'll work through it gently; if it's tight to the skin, the kindest option is usually a shorter, fresh-start cut, and we'll talk it through with you before a single clipper turns on. Extra-coat friends are +$15.

How often should my dog be groomed?

Most coats do best every 4–8 weeks: doodles and curly coats on the shorter end, wire and double coats a bit longer between visits. Regular visits keep coats mat-free, nails short, and grooms shorter and cheaper — we'll suggest a rhythm for your dog before you leave.

My dog is nervous. Can you work with that?

Nervous dogs are kind of our thing. We book one-dog-at-a-time attention windows, use gentle handling throughout, take breaks whenever your pup needs one, and never rush a scared dog through a service. Tell us in the temperament notes when you book, and consider a short walk-in nail trim first as a low-stakes hello.
